If you’re struggling to save shots from inside 100 yards, you may want to reconsider your golf wedges. These wedge shots are some of the most crucial in golf, and they play a pivotal role in your score!
While they’re some of the most important clubs to master, many golfers struggle with wedges for two reasons:
- They play the wrong equipment that is very unforgiving.
- They don’t have the right technique to execute shots from different lies.
The good news is, changing out your wedges can help easily avoid some of the common mistakes, and can give you more confidence than ever.
Why Your Wedge Game is Struggling
Driving and irons are undoubtedly a huge part of the game, but don’t underestimate the importance of wedges inside 100 yards. You can be the greatest driver in the world, but if you chunk and thin wedges, you’ll struggle to reach your full scoring potential.
Before sharing the new wedge that is taking the golf world by storm, let’s first discuss some of the biggest short game mistakes most amateur golfers make.
Playing the Wrong Wedges
Before getting into technique, let’s first think about equipment. As you probably know from experience, the right clubs can make a big difference in your performance.
Most golfers don’t play the right wedges to begin with and make their shots inside 100 yards a lot more challenging. If you’re a higher handicap golfer, you should probably use more forgiving clubheads that help with mishits.
Having a similar shaft as your irons – usually graphite – can also help improve your contact and confidence. Plus, it’s important to have at least three wedges in your bag: pitching, gap and sand wedge. If you’re a more skilled golfer you may also consider keeping a lob wedge in your golf bag.

Not Practicing the Correct Fundamentals
Even if you have the right wedges, you might still be chunking, duffing, and skulling chips. Why?
Because you’re trying to hit these short shots like you do an iron or fairway wood. In reality, you need to adjust your swing fundamentals as the shot requires a different approach.
With the full swing, the goal is to get plenty of rotation, transfer your weight, and use the ground to create power. There’s a lot more movement and the swing happens a lot faster, sometimes even more than 100 mph.
This is not the case with your chipping, pitching, and bunker shots. These finesse shots require you to adjust your setup and fundamentals for more consistent strikes.
Some basics tips to improve your wedge game include:
- Put more weight forward. More weight on your lead leg helps create a crisp strike and ball first contact.
- Minimize lower body movement. These short shots do not require a ton of movement, especially from your lower body. Keep it stable so you can minimize excess movement that leads to stabby chips and pitches.
- Use the right tempo. Short game tempo is different from long game tempo! Most golfers have a backswing that is far too slow and requires acceleration at impact, which can lead to a lot of mishits. Try to have a slightly smoother tempo so you can make better contact and generate more spin.

As you can tell, there’s a lot to think about when it comes to buying the right wedges and having the proper technique. Luckily, there is a solution that makes it easy to hit better wedges, chips, and bunker shots…without expensive lessons and endless practice time.
Introducing, the revolutionary ONE Wedge.
The ONE Wedge
The ONE Wedge was developed by Performance Golf and Martin Chuck – a top 7 ranked golf coach in the country and creator of the Simple Strike Sequence. Martin has coached more than 50,000 lessons and helped golfers with every issue you can imagine.
His latest focus is making the short game easier for everyday golfers, even if you don’t have time for regular practice. Which is why he created the ONE Wedge – it’s unlike any other wedge in the golf world and helps you avoid the most common mistakes. Even better, it’s not a training aid – it’s perfectly legal.
Let’s dive into the five features that make the ONE Wedge the easiest wedge to hit ever.
4-Way Auto React Sole
One of the reasons golf is so challenging is the number of shots you need to learn; from driving to putting and everything in between.
Learning to execute these shots under pressure, from different types of grass, and in different lies is a huge struggle for many.
The ONE Wedge is different, thanks to a 4-way rounded sole that reacts perfectly to any lie. The extra sole depth and width provides improved forgiveness and glides through any surface – instant consistency.
Control Spin Grooves
Grooves are an important aspect to wedges as they help create backspin, so your ball can hit on the putting surface and have it stop quickly. But getting enough spin is tough for most golfers and nearly impossible if you miss the sweet spot.
Luckily, the ONE Wedge corrects this issue and has grooves across the entire face of the club. They’re also deeper grooves to maximize spin.
Even if you mishit a full shot or chip, you’ll still get plenty of spin and improved performance on all shots.
Control Weighting
One of the biggest mistakes most golfers make when buying wedges is using clubs that don’t match your swing. If you play forgiving irons and woods, you need to play forgiving wedges too.
Luckily, the ONE Wedge has pitch control weighting, which provides cavity back forgiveness. Even if you mishit the shot on the heel or toe, you’ll have plenty of forgiveness and a much better shot.
One Tempo Shaft Pitch
When most golfers think about buying wedges, they focus only on the loft. But playing the right wedge shaft is also a critical component to having a consistent short game.
The ONE Wedge has a one of a kind counterbalanced shaft. This adds more weight under the grip to leverage gravity and easily accelerate through every shot. No more deceleration that leads to a ton of chunks and thin shots that sail over the green.
Improved Leading Edge
The final unique feature of the ONE Wedge is the point ‘n’ shoot leading edge. This makes it simple to aim the leading edge at your target…unlike most wedges.
The built-in alignment markers on top help you square the club and find the sweet spot more often. And if you don’t find the center of the face, the other features mentioned above will still make the shot a lot better than any other wedge.
If these reasons weren’t enough to help you improve your wedge skills even more, you also get three epic bonuses to improve your short game.
