In our recent YouTube video, we delve into the wisdom of this golfing legend, focusing on one of the most coveted skills in the game: adding more distance.
Sir Nick Faldo and Eric Cogorno have come together to provide three easy golf swing tips for the driver, that add both power and distance, without added risk of injury.
Let’s get into the three tips, and be sure to watch the whole YouTube video for extra context and tips (this one is under 6 minutes, so you’ll get to the tips in no time at all).
Sir Nick Faldo’s Top Driver Tips for More Distance
Tip 1: Lead Heel Movement
Allowing the lead heel to come up during the swing, along with proper hip movement (rotating the lead hip in the backswing) is especially helpful for older and less flexible golfers in maintaining power and speed without sacrificing distance.
Tip 2: Soften the Swing
Emphasizing the importance of keeping the swing soft, especially as golfers age, to avoid muscle tightening and maintain synchronization for better distance. By softening the swing and focusing on the left side, golfers can achieve a wider arc in their swing, resulting in more power and distance.
Tip 3: Experiment with Your Golf Grip
Faldo suggests experimenting with grips (like the baseball grip shown in the video) to potentially achieve easier release and more speed. This willingness to try out interesting golf grips that may differ from the norm, highlights the importance of finding what works best for each individual’s swing mechanics.
